Why Use Pre-Submission Review

Pre-Submission Review is a powerful way for instructors to engage with students during the writing process, rather than only after final submission. By accessing draft analytics and early versions of essays, instructors can:

Student Experience

When Pre-Submission Review is enabled, students see a banner notification informing them that their essay drafts can be viewed by their instructor. This ensures transparency, so students know their work is visible during the drafting stage. Importantly, feedback given during this stage does not replace final grading but helps guide students toward stronger submissions.

How to Setup Pre-Submission Assignments

To enable Pre-Submission Review for an assignment:

1. Go to the Rumi Dashboard.
2. Select the assignment you want to edit.
3. Under Review Type, check the box for Pre-Submission Review.

Once enabled, instructors can begin monitoring draft activity and providing feedback immediately.
